Caesar's new offerings include more orcs, zombies, including a set of "modern" zombies along with a presumably more generic fantasy set; and more surprisingly, lizardmen and ratmen. I'll be very interested to see what these latter models look like; looks like you'd be able to run a Warhammer game using Caesar models alone. I'm also hoping that this new line also means Caesar will start restocking some of their harder-to-find original fantasy sets, particularly their elves.
I realize this is the second news post in a row, which seems like I'm cheating somehow. But I was very excited to find all this out and wanted to share. I'll show off some unpainted models in the near future.
Update (9/27): Confirmation a week ago from Michigan Toy Soldiers. "4th quarter releases," they say.
Great news!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic news. Now if caeser could also do sci fi I would never have to go anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you knew this, but Hannants has the two figure/vehicle kits that Orion produced for 1/72 sci-fi, including the first set which I thought was out of production.
Deleteit's very interesting to see that 2 manufacturers (and good ones!) plan to release Fantasy sets !!
ReplyDeleteI understand that you're excited ! ;)
Pictures ?? do you have some figures ?
Alas, I'm not that privileged! Red Box has previews of some of the new Alliance minis, but just of the dwarves and half-orcs. I haven't found anything on the Caesar figures apart from the Hannants page.
DeleteVery cool. I had heard via the inter web that Caesar dropped the fantasy line because it didn't sell- hopefully they have re-evaluated that decision.
ReplyDeleteI very much liked the Alliance orcs and undead, and the half-orcs look promising.
But the show-stopper will be the Amazons! I've waited forever (figuratively ;)) for a set of Amazons to be released in 1/72!
From a pure marketing perspective, I thought the Amazons set was a particularly inspired choice.
DeleteFabulous news!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they have plans for the bad wizard's chariot and the half-orc pike block from the cover art as well.
half orc pike block is definitely one of the sets coming out and i think the wizard is mounted on a warg in the half orc cavalry set
DeleteCaesar lizardmen, ratmen, and camp zombies arrived on my doorstep in the US this week! Very nice - can't wait to see the Orcs. I hope they aren't plastic reissues of the Miniknights metal orcs. Maybe they'll be more heavily armed of mounted?"
